Putnam Man Charged With Drug Possession Had Suspended License, Sheriff Says

A Putnam man who is facing drug charges after police stopped his vehicle was allegedly driving with a suspended license, the Putnam County Sheriff says.

Thursday, Feb. 14 around 11 a.m., police initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle commit a series of traffic violations on Haviland Drive and Doansburg Road in the Town of Patterson.

Further investigation with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that the driver, 28-year-old Gideon Taub of Patterson, had a suspended license. Police also discovered that Taub was in possession of prescription pills including Alprazolam and Amphetamine/Dextroamphetamine, neither of which he was prescribed.

Taub was arrested and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility where he was processed, issued an appearance ticket and released on $250 cash bail. His charges include:

  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
  • Third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor
  • Various traffic infractions

Taub is scheduled to appear in the Town of Patterson Justice Court at a future date and time.
